LED Light care

Water activated LED lights are LED lights that have a water activated ground so when you place the LED light in water it completes the ground circuit on the light and when you remove them from water the ground is no longer activated and they will shut off. When considering purchasing LED lights you will want to first buy a sealed unit, which will prevent water from leaking in. A major problem with units that you can replace the battery on is that water can leak into the unit. If water leaks into the battery compartment and the light housing you are done fishing. With a sealed unit, there is no chance for water to penetrate the housing unit so the best one to purchase is a sealed one. When the unit dies you throw it it away and buy a replacement one. The lifespan of units that Bechhold and Son carry is 200 hours, enough time for 25 days of fishing at 8 hours per day. But you need to take care of it. Proper care of the unit requires that you wash it off in fresh water at the end of the day and dry the 2 metal probes at the butt end of the light with terry cloth or old rag. If your lights should continue to blink, spray the bottoms of them with WD-40, which ia a water displacement product, and wipe the metal probes with a cloth. The lights will then shut off.
